L’invention de concept s’est révélée utile pour la création d’un nouveau concept, soit celui de continuer dans les moments difficiles , avec sa définition composée d’essences uniques et sa relation avec l’ontologie de l’Humain en devenir. L’invention de concept, introduit par R.R. Parse à la fin des années 1990, est un processus de développement de concept qui permet de synthétiser la compréhension du chercheur au sujet d’un concept. Le résultat consiste en une définition conceptuelle qui étend les connaissances et guide la recherche pour l’étude des expériences vécues. La définition conceptuelle de : « continuer dans les moments difficiles est : persévérer au milieu de ce qui est souffrant avec les engagements et les désengagements alors qu’une nouvelle façon d’aller de l’avant est en émergence avec l’espérance des possibles ». Cette définition est transposée en une structure théorique qui propose que c’est l’expression en puissance de la valorisation dans la conjonction-séparation de la génération de la figuration . L’auteure en dégage les implications pour la recherche et la pratique infirmière.
