Abstract
Dès le milieu des années 70, lors de voyages à New York et en Nouvelle-Angleterre, Gérald Leblanc fait la découverte cruciale de certains poètes américains de la contre-culture. Le poète acadien est fasciné par les vives discussions suscitées au sein de la société américaine par des écrivains militants comme Allen Ginsberg et Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Cette lecture de toute une époque de contestation deviendra l’une des assises de l’oeuvre poétique de Leblanc. Notre étude porte d’abord sur la figure centrale de Ginsberg, chez qui Leblanc emprunte certaines pratiques formelles et de nombreux éléments thématiques, tels les renvois onomas-tiques à la communauté des poètes, le lexique spiritualiste d’inspiration bouddhiste et la construction même de la mission du poète militant au sein de sa société. Ensuite, une lecture plus tardive, celle du poète contestataire Hakim Bey, attirera notre attention, car elle est à l’origine de la notion de « cartographie » si chère à Leblanc.
