Abstract
Les auteurs décrivent les types d’engagement d’élèves déficients mentaux moyens pendant des séances d’éducation physique. Vingt-neuf élèves, choisis au hasard parmi cinq groupes à effectif réduit, ont fait l’objet d’une observation directe systématique. Leurs comportements ont été classifiés selon quatre degrés d’intensité d’engagement : déviance, inconsistance, application, enthousiasme. Les résultats révèlent que les élèves passent près de la moitié du temps à attendre sans pouvoir s’engager dans une activité. Cependant, ils manifestent généralement beaucoup d’application lorsqu’ils s’engagent dans les tâches proposées par l’enseignant.
