Abstract

L’article commence par un bref examen des concepts proposés comme thème de ce numéro (en particulier transcendance, performance, extase) : peut-on les appliquer aux formes de chamanisme rencontrées en Sibérie en contexte « traditionnel » ? Ce sont en fait de tout autres notions qui sous-tendent la terminologie de l’action rituelle dans ces formes de chamanisme, notamment celle de « jouer ». Cette notion, analysée sur des exemples bouriates, combine en un tout intégré plusieurs idées fondatrices des systèmes de représentations chamaniques. L’idée d’imiter les animaux sauvages dont dépend la vie de chasse, et au-delà, de mettre en scène un échange harmonieux avec la nature. Celle d’effectuer, à leur image, les deux devoirs fondamentaux de chacun et de tous, s’accoupler (danse) et se défendre (lutte). Celle de faire comme si pour susciter l’action correspondante dans la réalité. Celle, enfin, d’agir d’une manière qui ouvre la possibilité d’un gain. Ainsi, l’acte de « jouer » se présente comme la traduction rituelle de l’aspiration à obtenir de la « chance ».
