Abstract
Une recension des écrits sur la gestion de la marginalité urbaine montre que depuis les années 1990, on assiste à des changements importants sur le plan de la gouvernance urbaine dans l’espace public dans plusieurs villes du monde, de plus en plus pensée en termes sécuritaires et écosanitaires. À l’égard des personnes marginalisées se dessine une intervention répressive qui contribue à leur judiciarisation. Dans cet article, nous traitons des effets d’une telle gestion urbaine de la marginalité sur le processus de sortie de la rue des jeunes à partir des résultats d’une enquête de terrain menée dans le cadre d’une recherche doctorale. Ces résultats alimentent la réflexion sur les enjeux entourant une cohabitation urbaine démocratique.
