La difficulte d’une demarche de developpement durable (DD) est de reconcilier environnement et economie, et de savoir comment l’operationnaliser et le mesurer. L’objectif de cet article est d’identifier et de comprendre les actions et les comportements adoptes par une organisation appliquant une approche de DD et de classifier cette strategie. Le cas de la cooperative canadienne Mountain Equipment Co-op (MEC) a ete soumis a examen en utilisant la typologie developpee par Novethic (2002). Les resultats demontrent que MEC depasse les attentes et les pressions des parties prenantes en adoptant une strategie de DD de type « engagee », repondant aux dimensions ideologiques du DD dans chacune des fonctions de l’organisation.
