Abstract
L’Organisation mondiale du marché de l’art contemporain aussi bien que les modes d’établissement de la réputation ont pu laisser penser que l’art le plus avancé était aujourd’hui très largement déterritorialisé. L’exemple de l’ arte povera permet de traiter en de nouveaux termes de la question de l’internationalisation de l’art, à partir d’un exemple qui appartient aujourd’hui pleinement à l’histoire de l’art. L’exemple de l’ arte povera permet de mettre au jour les effets propres d’une certaine « localité » de l’art contemporain. Comment un phénomène local, émanant d’un pays qui n’avait pas vraiment joué de rôle moteur dans les arts plastiques d’avant-garde, a-t-il pu avoir des conséquences globales ? Le texte tente de répondre partiellement à la question que soulève la très large reconnaissance de l’importance historique de l’ arte povera aussi bien que sa fécondité artistique, en commençant par l’analyse de la constitution d’un réseau relationnel dans l’Italie du Nord au début des années 1960 comme point de départ (1. Naissance d’un réseau). On est alors en mesure de rendre compte des dispositifs d’identification d’un geste artistique (2. Identité revendiquée, identité perçue). On conclut en s’interrogeant sur les dynamiques territoriales d’un mouvement esthétique (3. Centre et périphéries).
