Depuis la fin des années 1990, les recueils de Nicole Brossard allient un discours lyrique valorisant le lien amoureux à une forme d’humanisme mettant en examen les problèmes environnementaux et politiques qui assaillent la planète. Nous nous intéresserons particulièrement aux modalités de ce lyrisme critique, dans ses plus récents recueils, en montrant comment cette écriture puise dans certaines tonalités mélancoliques toutes contemporaines qui ne font jamais l’économie de la résistance critique. En réinterrogeant les modes d’habitation du monde, au tournant du xxi e siècle, la poésie réaffirme en effet sa portée éthique. Par ailleurs, on abordera les particularités de cette écriture fondée sur le désir de circulation infinie entre les contradictions, entre les lieux, entre les places énonciatives. Cela nous permettra d’explorer les nouveaux aspects de cette poétique puisant sa dynamique dans les formes du ruissellement alors que le rythme qui la caractérise s’apparente à un « piano-prose ».
