Abstract
Le présent article se veut une réflexion sur le travail enseignant dans les écoles de langue française en Ontario. La tâche des enseignants est triple : ils doivent transmettre des connaissances, socialiser les élèves aux valeurs de la société et, dans les écoles de langue française situées en milieu francophone minoritaire, veiller à la sauvegarde de la langue et de la culture, dans une réalité des plus complexes. Cette complexité est attribuable, en grande partie, aux multiples défis que doit relever l’école dans ce milieu. Dans ce contexte menacé par l’assimilation au groupe majoritaire anglophone, les enseignants servent d’agents de «reproduction» linguistique et culturelle.
