Cette étude vise à identifier les facteurs d'ordre personnel, familial, social et scolaire liés à la consommation de substances psychotropes à l'adolescence. Environ 1000 adolescents ont participé à quatre collectes de données échellonnées sur une période de 44 mois. Les résultats montrent un lien entre la consommation précoce de substances psychotropes et la persistance de cette habitude. D'autres facteurs tels les compétences à entrer en interaction avec les pairs, l'inadaptation scolaire et le manque de supervision parentale sont également des prédicteurs d'une telle habitude. En retour, l'importance accordée aux qualités morales et les réactions négatives vis‐à‐vis les habitudes de consommation de la mère sont associées à un fléchissement de cette habitude. La discussion porte sur l'importance d'identifier les trajectoires développementales menant à la dépendance aux substances psychotropes.
