Une comparaison de révisions effectuées par des sujets débutants en révision de textes (35 élèves de cinquième secondaire) et des sujets expérimentés (huit enseignants en français) est réalisée à l'aide de quatre textes narratifs hétérographes comprenant des problèmes de trois niveaux de profondeur inspirés du modèle de Faigley et Witte (1981). Les résultats obtenus grâce à cette méthodologie montrent que la révision des débutants se distingue de celle des expérimentés non seulement en ce qui a trait au nombre de corrections effectuées et à l'influence du degré de difficulté des problèmes sur le taux de correction, mais qu'elle se distingue aussi par des différences relatives à l'adéquation du niveau des corrections à celui des problèmes ainsi qu'aux opérations employées pour chacun de ces niveaux.
