Abstract
Le trefle Kura (Trifolium ambiguum M.B.) est une legumineuse fourragere de haute qualite nutritive destinee a un usage au pâturage. Cette plante originaire du Caucase est remarquable de par sa rusticite et sa persistance. Son potentiel agronomique est presentement etudie dans de nombreuses regions temperees. Le trefle Kura developpe un systeme imposant de rhizomes par lequel il se multiplie et perdure. Ses rendements, inferieurs a ceux des autres legumineuses les deux premieres saisons de croissance, augmentent au cours des premieres annees alors que la culture s’etablit, puis va surpasser les rendements de plusieurs autres legumineuses autour de la troisieme saison de croissance en pâturages. Des problemes d’etablissement ont jusqu’a recemment limite l’utilisation du trefle Kura. Cependant, ces problemes semblent maintenant pouvoir etre resolus par l’utilisation de nouvelles souches de rhizobiums plus efficaces, de cultivars plus competitifs, et de techniques de semis appropriees.
