Le propos de ce texte est de mettre en lumière la singularité des expériences du vieillir et les apports de la sociologie du vieillissement aux conceptualisations du temps. On se demande en quoi l’analyse du rapport au temps des générations qui se situent dans la dernière partie du parcours de vie interroge les modèles temporels dominants et peut contribuer à renouveler la sociologie des âges. Ce questionnement, qui traverse les quatre textes de ce numéro, invite à une incursion, certes partielle, dans la sociologie du temps et plus exactement des temps sociaux. La première partie est consacrée aux approches sociologiques du temps dans une perspective critique, la seconde aux expériences temporelles des personnes aînées au sein des théories sociologiques du vieillissement.
