Abstract
À l'aide du fichier-réseau de la population du Saguenay et par le biais de diverses reconstitutions cartographiques, la présente recherche vise à faire ressortir la structure spatiale du bassin génétique saguenayen. Du point de vue de l'épidémiologie génétique, cet exercice poursuit un objectif très concret : il s'agit de voir si la référence spatiale peut constituer un indicateur de risque utile pour la prévention des maladies récessives parmi cette population. Il semble que ce ne soit pas le cas. Sauf exceptions très localisées, les gènes mutants qui sont à l'origine de ces maladies ne présentent pas une distribution géographique qui permettrait de prédire avec une certaine fiabilité l'occurrence des phénomènes. Ce résultat est un peu surprenant dans la mesure où des indices comme la distribution de l'endogamie, de la consanguinité, de la parenté, etc. suggèrent l'existence d'une structure ou d'une stratification spatiale.
