Abstract
En 2007 et en 2008, le premier ministre du Québec a appliqué le principe de la parité femmes-hommes lors de la constitution de son Conseil des ministres. Cette initiative a incité l’auteure à examiner la composition du Cabinet québécois dans une perspective d’analyse comparée entre les sexes. L’auteure constate d’abord qu’il n’est pas exceptionnel d’observer une plus grande proportion de femmes nommées ministres que de femmes élues députées. Puis, un examen des caractéristiques sociodémographiques et de l’expérience politique des ministres québécois depuis 1970 révèle que les femmes et les hommes affichent des profils similaires, mais que les premières bénéficient d’un accès plus rapide aux fonctions exécutives.
