Abstract
L’objectif de l’étude était de comprendre pourquoi les pères sont absents des services de stimulation précoce, alors qu’on reconnaît leurs contributions spécifiques au développement de l’enfant. Des groupes de discussion avec des pères et des intervenants ont été organisés au Québec. L’analyse qualitative des verbatim révèle que les pères ne se sentent pas inclus dans les programmes existants, ceux-ci étant traditionnellement féminins. Ils préfèrent des activités dynamiques, concrètes et des discussions informelles sur la paternité. Un programme ciblant le père devra être actif, dynamique, afficher des buts explicites et offrir des activités où la formation parentale est intégrée au moyen d’interventions personnalisées.
