Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

We describe here the measurement of the flux of neutrinos created by the decay of solar 8 B by the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO). The neutrinos were detected via the charged current (CC) reaction on deuterium and by the elastic scattering (ES) of electrons. The CC reaction is sensitive exclusively to ν e 's, while the ES reaction also has a small sensitivity to ν μ 's and ν τ 's. The flux of ν e 's from 8 B decay measured by the CC reaction rate is [Formula: see text]. Assuming no flavor transformation, the flux inferred from the ES reaction rate is [Formula: see text]. Comparison of ϕ CC (ν e ) to the Super-Kamiokande Collaboration's precision value of ϕ ES (ν x ) yields a 3.3σ difference, assuming the systematic uncertainties are normally distributed, providing evidence that there is non-electron flavor active neutrino component in the solar flux. The total flux of active 8 B neutrinos is thus determined to be 5.44 ± 0.99 × 10 6 cm - 2 s - 1 , in close agreement with the predictions of solar models.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
