Abstract
Le climat de la région Mauricie - Bois-Francs est influencé surtout par la masse continentale de l'Amérique du Nord, mais l'influence océanique de l'Atlantique n'est pas absente dans cette région. Les vents du secteur est ont une fréquence de 20% environ et ils apportent jusqu'à 50% des précipitations annuelles. La superposition de ces deux influences donne le cachet caractéristique au climat de la Mauricie. D'après la classification numérique des climats mondiaux, on distingue en Mauricie - Bois-Francs deux types de climats : le climat subpolaire, assez humide, continental (13 C) qui affecte la plus grande partie de la région et le climat modéré, assez humide, continental (23 C) sur la périphérie sud. La classification plus détaillée permet de distinguer six (6) sous-types de climat dont la parenté minimale est de 0,67 seulement, ce qui signifie que la région est assez diversifiée du point de vue climatique. La partie sud de la région (surtout les Bois-Francs) représente un climat très propice à l'agriculture tandis que la haute Mauricie est purement forestière.
