Abstract

Le versant oriental des cuestas littorales du golfe de Richmond (lac Guillaume-Delisle) présente des conditions d'enneigement contrastées reliées à la topographie. La végétation et les sols sont reliés à une chronoséquence engendrée par le relèvement isostatique et à une toposéquence mettant en relief l'enneignement et le déneigement des sites. Dans les dépressions topographiques importantes, le déneigement tardif favorise l'établissement d'une flore chionophile et l'incidence d'une gélifluxion en nappe. La datation radiocarbone des sols enfouis d'une grande combe à neige montre que la gélifluxion était active vers 3200-3000 BP, vers 2600-2400 BP et après 800 BP, plus particulièrement après 500-400 BP. Ces périodes correspondent à des épisodes froids et humides reconnus dans d'autres travaux. La chronologie 14C de la gélifluxion dans la combe à neige étudiée couvre une partie seulement de l'éventail des périodes de gélifluxion enregistrées jusqu'à ce jour au Québec.
