Abstract
The objective of this paper is to gain insight in the nature and extent of the unavoidable RF emissions from in-home power line communication (PLC) networks. Of particular interest is their numerical modeling. Analysis of the models can provide a good understanding of the unintentional emissions and the effectiveness of the measures employed by regulatory organizations, PLC manufacturers and operators to reduce the harmful impact of these leakage emissions on radio reception. A typical wiring configuration within a bungalow was chosen to characterize real PLC wiring structures with various appliances or loads. The signal power spectral density and bandwidth of a HomePlug device were obtained and used in the numerical model.
