Abstract
Pour une meilleure compréhension de l’évolution des environnements côtiers face au changement climatique, il s’avère nécessaire pour la communauté scientifique comme pour les gestionnaires du littoral, de bénéficier d’un cadre méthodologique et opérationnel de surveillance de l’évolution morphosédimentaire des milieux côtiers, notamment sous l’influence météo-marine paroxysmique. Afin de répondre à ces objectifs, une démarche méthodologique basée sur la mise en place d’un réseau expérimental de suivi de la morphodynamique côtière a été réalisé sur plusieurs îles tropicales françaises, notamment à Mayotte. L’objectif de ce réseau est d’observer, surveiller et caractériser les rythmes et les mécanismes d’évolution, d’adaptation et de résilience de différentes côtes tropicales face aux événements météo-marins paroxystiques auxquels ils sont soumis (cyclones, tempêtes, surcotes, fortes houles…) afin de fournir des stratégies de gestion face aux évolutions constatées.
