Abstract
La relation entre la recherche et l’action syndicale en éducation au Québec est intimement liée à la situation de la représentation syndicale et à l’évolution historique du syndicalisme enseignant. Au tournant des années 1990, de plus en plus de voix s’élèvent pour dénoncer le sous-développement chronique de la recherche en éducation. Ce débat apparaîtra de façon très claire lors des États généraux de l’éducation en 1996. Ainsi, dans la continuité du courant du « new unionism », le syndicalisme enseignant ne va pas se limiter à la négociation des droits et avantages de ses membres ; il va exiger dorénavant d’agir plus globalement sur la profession enseignante et pour l’amélioration de l’efficacité des écoles pour l’ensemble des étudiants.
