Abstract
Cet article traite de l'effet du genre sur les premiers mois de transition de l'école au marché du travail des diplômés du collégial technique. Considérant l'ambiguïté du concept de genre dans l'étude de la transition professionnelle, les auteurs analysent deux aspects de ce déterminant: un facteur individuel et un attribut de groupe sous forme de stéréotype du diplôme. L'analyse secondaire des données des Relances au collégial (1990 à 1996) fait ressortir l'effet de chacun de ces aspects sur la situation en emploi des diplômés neuf mois après leur sortie. Une analyse ANOVA montre que l'influence du groupe d'appartenance sexuelle sur la primo-insertion des sortants du collégial technique agirait par deux biais distincts, mais interreliés: l'attribut individuel et le stéréotype du diplôme.
