This study presents kinetic and thermodynamic studies on the adsorption of Zn2+ onto chitosan-aluminium oxidecomposite material. The adsorption of Zn2+ onto chitosan-aluminium oxide composite material was found to followpseudo-second-order kinetic model and the apparent adsorption activation energy (Ea) was measured to be37.20kJ/mol. Adsorption was mainly chemical adsorption. Thermodynamic data supported Langmuir adsorptionmodel and the enthalpy of adsorption (ΔHθ) and the entropy of adsorption (ΔSθ) were found to be 17.81kJ/mol and109.77J/(mol?K), respectively. The adsorption Gibbs free energy (ΔGθ) decreased with the increase of temperature.
