Abstract
Cet article décrit certaines pratiques, valeurs et représentations partagées par de jeunes hommes et femmes vivant à Quaqtaq, une petite communauté du nord du Nunavik (Québec). Basée sur des entretiens menés avec 27 jeunes âgés de 15 à 25 ans et 15 adultes, la description montre de façon concrète comment les habitudes culturelles et sociales des jeunes combinent mode de vie inuit et culture mondialisée. L’article en arrive à la conclusion que l’identité des jeunes émane d’un processus de confrontation et d’intégration qui rassemble au sein d’une matrice commune divers éléments signifiants de la culture inuit locale avec des contre-influences marquantes et attirantes en provenance du monde extérieur.
