Abstract
Ce texte cherche à dissiper la confusion qui s’est installée dans les publications sur la gestion et les organisations à propos des concepts de changement organisationnel, d’adaptation et de transformation. Il approfondit la nature de la transformation organisationnelle considérée sous l’angle du contenu du changement. Il examine la conception radicale du changement qui est accolée à la transformation, considérée en tant que processus, et que véhicule un courant de pensée sur le changement organisationnel. Le propos est illustré par quelques travaux portant sur les universités. La démarche est l’occasion de remettre en question les présupposés de certaines théories des organisations et de soulever quelques questions d’une grande importance pour le choix de stratégies de transformation des universités.
