La transposition générique a renouvelé le très ancien débat du récit au théâtre, où la narration et le dialogue sont en affrontement productif. Dans la République démocratique allemande de l’après-Brecht, l’œuvre de Heiner Müller en fait l’outil d’une déconstruction des mythes du socialisme, et d’une remise en question du théâtre épique révolutionnaire. On étudie ici la figure de Médée dans le triptyque Rivage à l’abandon Matériau-Médée Paysage avec Argonautes (1982). La réécriture de la grande scène de magie s’inscrit dans une violence globale que le récit fait subir au dialogue théâtral, réduit ici au noyau d’un mythe effroyable rayonnant sur le récit devenu impossible d’une conquête qui a mal tourné.
