Los servicios de apoyo están formados por aquellos servicios que permiten a las empresas satisfacer las necesidades de sus clientes y diferenciar el servicio total ofrecido por las empresas del servicio ofrecido por su competencia. Este estudio explora la importancia de los servicios de apoyo en los establecimientos hoteleros a partir de los datos obtenidos en encuestas realizadas a los turistas de cinco países. Estos han sido clasificados en diferentes tipos de acuerdo con la importancia percibida por ellos sobre 15 servicios de apoyo, habiéndose realizado un análisis discriminante para identificar los servicios de apoyo que más discriminan entre los tipos formados. El estudio muestra que algunos servicios de apoyo son muy importantes para los clientes de los hoteles existiendo diferencias significativas entre los mismos. Los tres tipos formados están asociados con las nacionalidades de los turistas, así como la importancia que atribuyen a cada uno de los servicios de apoyo
