RESUMOEste artigo trata-se de um relato de experiência da prática educativa desenvolvida por um grupo de acadêmicas do sétimo período de Enfermagem com um grupo de homens da Ilha de Paquetá, município do Rio de Janeiro. Tem como objetivo descrever a experiência da utilização do Modelo Calgary de Avaliação e Intervenção na Família para subsidiar o desenvolvimento de uma prática educativa visando a promoção da saúde. A partir do levantamento dos dados comuns às famílias dos homens que participaram da atividade emergiram três eixos temáticos a serem abordados na prática educativa: auto-cuidado, direitos do homem e processo saúde-doença. A utilização do MCAIF possibilitou desenvolver uma atividade de promoção da saúde com este grupo considerando a influência das fragilidades e potencialidades provenientes das suas relações sociais e familiares.Descritores: Homem; Enfermagem; Família.
