Abstract
L’auteure analyse les raisons pour lesquelles nous sommes incapables d’envisager d’une manière proprement politique les problèmes que rencontrent aujourd’hui nos sociétés. Elle examine le rôle qu’a joué la théorie démocratique libérale dans le remplacement de la politique par la morale et met en évidence les conséquences néfastes d’une vision consensuelle de la démocratie. Elle insiste sur la nécessité de ne pas faire l’impasse sur la dimension de l’antagonisme qui est constitutive du politique et sur la place des passions dans la construction des identités politiques. Afin de remédier aux défauts du modèle de la démocratie « délibérative », elle propose un nouveau paradigme : le pluralisme antagoniste.
