Abstract
www.ruaf.org In the context of examining the role of urban agriculture in building resilient cities, our research at the Institute for Sustainable Horticulture in British Columbia, Canada, attempts to answer the question: How can urban and periurban agriculture be tied directly to the economic, social and ecological vitality of our cities? We believe the answer lies in part in building sustainable bio-regional, agri-food systems, as a necessary pre-condition for creating food sovereignty.
