L’objectif de cette recherche est de documenter les différents profils et modes de contribution sur un fil de discussion anglophone traitant de l’usage récréatif des sirops pour la toux. S’inscrivant dans une perspective interactionniste, la recherche mobilise une méthodologie mixte (observation, analyse de contenu, analyse conversationnelle) et porte sur une année complète d’échanges. L’analyse met en évidence trois profils de contributeurs en fonction du volume et du type de contribution, et deux types principaux d’usagers : des consommateurs d’information, souvent néophytes et des usagers plus expérimentés, « experts», qui partagent informations et conseils sur l’accès, la préparation et la consommation de sirops et peuvent contribuer à l’encadrement des pratiques. Par ailleurs, différents types d’expertise peuvent être distingués sur la base des connaissances maîtrisées (théoriques ou expérientielles) et de leur ancienneté. L’analyse révèle enfin l’évolution de la nature des échanges et des modes de contribution, soulignant l’intérêt d’une perspective diachronique.
