Abstract
Cet article analyse la situation et l’évolution des dépenses publiques au Québec dans une perspective de compréhension de la transformation des logiques de solidarité. On y soutient que l’accroissement prévisible des dépenses dues au vieillissement de la population, notamment en santé, n’est pas la plus grande menace à l’équilibre des finances publiques québécoises. C’est plutôt la spirale de la dette conjuguée à la nouvelle baisse structurelle prévue des revenus qui plonge l’ensemble du monde politique et économique dans l’angoisse d’une nouvelle crise.
