Abstract
Per raons històriques, els drets lingüístics ocupen un lloc important al Canadà. La situació política i lingüística particular del Quebec i el seu estatus com a única província francòfona del país l'han fet ben conegut a l'escena internacional. Tanmateix, poques persones coneixen la situació lingüística de la província del Nouveau-Brunswick, situada a la costa atlàntica del Canadà, la qual té un estatut particular en l'aspecte lingüístic ja que és l'única que ha acceptat de reconèixer la igualtat d'estatus, dret i privilegi no només de les dues llengües oficials, sinó també de les dues comunitats lingüístiques oficials. En el seu text, l'autor presenta la situació constitucional lingüística particular d'aquesta província del Canadà tot intentant de comprendre els motius que poden conduir un estat o una província a reconèixer per a la seva minoria certs drets en l'àmbit lingüístic.
