Abstract
L'accouchement en centre hospitalier avec une sage-femme au Québec est maintenant devenu une réalité depuis 2005, avec la réalisation d'ententes inter-établissements. Cet article présente l'historique de la pratique sage-femme en projets-pilotes en regard de l'accouchement en centre hospitalier (CH), les choix ayant mené au type d'intégration des sages-femmes dans le réseau de la santé et des services sociaux ainsi que les raisons ayant conduit à l'établissement d'ententes inter-établissements pour l'accouchement en CH. Le modèle d'entente est décrit dans ses aspects législatifs et fonctionnels. Enfin, les résultats obtenus jusqu'à maintenant sont présentés et commentés. Les inconvénients et les avantages de ce modèle ainsi que l'impact de ces ententes sur la pratique des sages-femmes sont décrits à la lumière de l'expérience vécue par des sages-femmes québécoises.
