This paper produces a mathematical analysis to obtain the acoustic emissions emanating from the leaky pipelines by simulating the sound wave in a fluid filled steel pipe. The process begins with the derivation of the pressure equation for a sound wave propagating in the fluid. This leads to the developement of pressure distribution equation for sound in a elastic pipe. Consideration of the boundary conditions between the fluid and the elastic pipe wall allows demonstration of the solution to this equation. The absorption and attenuation of the sound pressure levels are then analysed through examination of (1) the viscosity and heat conduction, (2) the reflection at the boundary, and (3) the transmission thru the pipe wall. This work culminates in the production of sound pressure levels plots in circumferential and axial direction
