Abstract
Ombudsman Saskatchewan was pleased to host the 2010 annual conference of the Canadian Council of Parliamentary Ombudsman in Regina on June 2-3. Provincial parliamentary ombudsman from across Canada attended the two days of business meetings. They were also treated to receptions hosted by the Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan and by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. The spirits of the participants were not dampened by a few rain showers as they commented on the beauty of the city and the province. The ombudsman from eight provinces and the Yukon Territory share similar mandates and had productive discussions about common issues and concerns. These topics included services available, or lacking, for people with mental health issues and problems arising from overcrowding in correctional centers. Several of the ombudsman, who meet together once per year, commented that the 2010 conference was one of the best they had ever attended.
