Abstract
La période de « modernisation institutionnelle » et d’élaboration du néonationalisme acadien qu’est celle des années 1960-1980 a jusqu’ici été présentée dans l’historiographie comme celle d’une sécularisation de la référence acadienne et du corps militant. Une telle simplification fausse toutefois le portrait d’ensemble. Par l’étude d’associations et de mouvements constituant le creuset idéologique du néonationalisme acadien, l’auteur met en évidence l’apport non négligeable de clercs à la modulation de la référence acadienne et à ses mobilisations. Des fondements personnalistes du néonationalisme acadien au moment autonomiste, en passant par le moment des luttes socioéconomiques, il montre qu’un important nombre de clercs, revoyant leur philosophie chrétienne qu’ils croisent à des idées progressistes, y prennent part au point d’en devenir, dans certains cas, les chefs de file.
