For more than 30 years, the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition (OFC) and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (NFOEC) has served as a bellwether for the telecommunications industry and all of its related technology and services. Last year, nearly one quarter of the world’s population had access to the Internet — in other words, demand for information at faster speeds and higher quality is currently coming from more than 1.7 billion connected users worldwide. With Internet traffic on the rise each year, service providers are looking to the optical communications industry to provide solutions for the global bandwidth explosion. OFC/NFOEC 2010, taking place March 21‐25 in San Diego, Calif., offers the leading forum to discuss these solutions and trends, and focus on the future of optical communication.
