Abstract
A series of pyrazolines Va-f have been synthesized by the action of hydrazine hydrate on compound IV while the compounds IVa-f were prepared by the condensation of 2,6-dichloro-1-(N-substituted phenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarbaldehyde III with different aromatic ketones. The structures of the newly synthesized compounds have been confirmed on the basis of elemental analysis and spectral studies. The newly synthesized title compounds have been screened for their in vitro antimicrobial activities against B. subtilis, E. coli, S. aureus, P.aeroginosa, A. niger and C. albicans. All the compounds showed moderate to good antimicrobial activity. Some compounds were found more potent than standard drug.
