Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The Upper Ordovician Grog Brook Group is composed of 1) a lower siltstone-dominated unit, 2) a thin-bedded carbonaceous and sulphidic shale unit, and 3) an upper sandstone-dominated unit. In the north-central part of the map area, which is traversed by Ritchie Brook, these units are spatially associated with magnetic and Ni-Co stream-silt anomalies. Twenty-one samples were collected along Ritchie Brook and analyzed for selected major and trace elements. The MnO content is higher in the sandstone-dominated unit than in the lower two units. Organic carbon content is greater within the lower two units, reflecting more reducing conditions and/or higher organic productivity at the time of deposition. The major-element content of the carbonaceous shale unit is indistinguishable from that of the siltstone-dominated unit. Although the carbonaceous shale is weakly 'metalliferous', it is not the source of the Ni and Co anomalies identified in the area. An unknown subjacent source is inferred.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
