Abstract
Abordando el reciente magnicidio de la candidata presidencial Benazir Bhutto a contrapelo de la mirada de los mass media occidentales que, pese a la polaridad de su análisis que oscila entre la adjudicación de esta tragedia a un atentado terrorista o a las fuerzas militares, en el fondo somete este problema histórico a una visión reduccionista porque lo presenta como un mero conflicto socio-político interno de Pakistán, este ensayo demuestra que, al escudriñarla desde una visión macrohistórica, esa tragedia revela el profundo proyecto de reconfiguración geopolítica de Pakistán y de multiple balcanización de Asia que se viene impulsando en el marco de la disputa por el control de los recursos energéticos estratégicos de esa región en este inicio de siglo.
