Abstract
Cet article défend la thèse selon laquelle le tournant conservateur de Harper doit être compris moins en termes hayékiens que comme un désir de redéfinir la « philosophie publique » du Canada dans le sens du toryisme canadien. Les conservateurs chercheraient à repenser ce qu’on appelle communément les « valeurs canadiennes » et l’identité canadienne, que les Libéraux ont pu façonner à leur guise au cours d’un demi-siècle, et de réorienter l’identité nationale vers des principes conservateurs qui prévalaient dans un passé pré-libéral au Canada, avec pour point d’ancrage le monarchisme et le militarisme.
