Abstract
Une frontière mentale séparait l’Europe médiane de la France pendant la guerre froide. Elle est devenue autre, comme l’indiquait le titre de l’essai de Milosz traduit à l’inverse de ce qu’il souhaitait dire dans son « Europe familière ». On la connait toujours trop mal en France, sa littérature est peu traduite malgré les efforts louables de ceux, comme Zofia Bobowicz qui se sont efforcés de faire découvrir les auteurs de l’Europe médiane aux Français. L’inverse est vrai – nombreux sont les connaisseurs et les admirateurs de la culture française et nombreux sont des écrivains francophones issus de l’Europe médiane qui font désormais partie de cette Autre Francophonie dont on ne parle pas plus que de l’Europe médiane elle-même. Cet article est une tentative de briser les frontières mentales entre ces notions traditionnelles.
