(Im)mobilité internationale : les inégalités au sein des catégories populaires face à la migration

Abstract
L’examen des trajectoires migratoires de citoyens comoriens issus des catégories populaires permet de mettre en lumière de fortes inégalités dans leur rapport à la mobilité, dans leur accès à l’émigration et dans leur capacité à transformer la mobilité spatiale en mobilité sociale ascendante. Leur plus ou moins grande possession de ressources scolaires et culturelles ainsi que la connaissance pratique et directe de l’émigration au sein de la famille viennent dessiner des frontières internes à ce groupe social. L’article montre également comment la migration participe significativement à la recomposition des catégories populaires dans le pays d’origine en permettant à ceux qui ont un peu plus de ressources d’obtenir une ascension sociale individuelle ou familiale et en laissant les plus précaires à l’écart de ce processus. La migration favorise donc tout autant la mobilité que la reproduction sociale au sein des milieux populaires.
