Abstract
Le concept d’accommodement raisonnable est devenu le prétexte à des sorties inopportunes sur la diversité culturelle et religieuse. L’accommodement raisonnable est l’un de ces outils juridiques qui donnent une certaine flexibilité à la loi dans l’atteinte de résultats satisfaisants pour les personnes sujettes à des obstacles ou à des préjugés particuliers et répétés. Il ne saurait donc être question de rompre les consensus sur l’égalité des femmes et des hommes, ou d’entamer des droits acquis dans d’autres sphères toutes aussi essentielles. Pour l’auteur, l’accommodement raisonnable vise à résoudre des difficultés d’interprétation juridique sans qu’il en coûte des efforts indus aux organismes en cause ou des sommes pharamineuses aux contribuables. L’auteur croit que notre compréhension de la place du phénomène religieux dans la sphère publique devrait être basée sur la Charte des droits et libertés de la personne du Québec, ou sur son équivalent canadien.
