Abstract
En San Andres de la Cal en que los individuos no se agrupan en formas organizadas por el principio de descendencia unilineal ni ambilineal, la familia constituye el unico grupo corporado de parentesco. Por eso es que la unidad domestica puede ser considerada como una unidad adaptativa que puede responder a un amplio rango de presiones ambientales y socioeconomicas. Tambien el compadrazgo que es la relacion interpersonal mas formal fuera de la unidad domestica han alcanzado ciertas actividades seculares como el intercambio entre si mano de obra reforzando los lazos de solidaridad, respeto y reciprocidad. La emigracion temporal a los Estados Unidos y Canada forma parte de las estrategias para la subsistencia de hogares campesinos de San Andres de la Cal en condiciones socioeconomicas adversas. Por otra parte la emigracion ocasiona la feminizacion del trabajo agricola y la escasez estacional de la mano de obra cada vez mas notable. Con el cambio socioeconomico los nexos establecidos entre los nucleos familiares son menos estrechos en el acceso a los recursos, en la organizacion laboral, en la distribucion y consumo del producto. Ademas, la relacion entre los miembros familiares se va materializando como la relacion hombre-natrualeza. Esta tendencia no solo ocurre en la unidad domestica sino tambien en las organizaciones sociales y en la comunidad.
