Abstract
Dans cet article, nous proposons une incursion dans l’univers des sensibilités entretenues à l’égard du territoire, en nous attardant aux représentations véhiculées par les discours tenus sur la forêt dans les oeuvres littéraires produites au cours de la première moitié du XXe siècle. Le travail mené ici propose une lecture des oeuvres littéraires comme discours articulé au contexte social, culturel, politique et économique d’expansion territoriale et se veut une première esquisse des possibilités de décloisonner ces univers interdépendants. Dans un environnement intellectuel où la forêt semble immobilisée entre la domination d’une idéologie tournée vers la terre et l’essor des sciences, en introduisant la forêt dans leurs oeuvres, les auteurs engagent un dialogue collectif sur la place qu’occupe celle-ci dans la société, et par extension plus largement sur les rapports sociaux entretenus au territoire. Les oeuvres littéraires permettent de saisir qu’à l’instar des actions menées par l’État, l’appropriation du territoire se présente comme un geste collectif multidimensionnel.
