Abstract
Les littératures francophones créoles portent en creux l’ombre projetée par l’esclavage transatlantique sur l’histoire de leurs sociétés. Insatisfaits des réponses apportées par l’historiographie à leur questionnement sur leur passé, les écrivains s’improvisent historiens et font de l’exercice littéraire le lieu d’une réécriture consolatrice et vicariante pour leur société de ce maelström anthropologique que fut l’esclavage. Ainsi, ils mettent au jour et assument la discordance des démarches et des enjeux entre histoire et littérature et, dans ce qui est un mouvement d’affranchissement, ils affirment leur autonomie dans le champ littéraire mondial.
