Cet article souhaite démontrer la fécondité de la théorie honnethienne de la reconnaissance en recourant aux résultats partiels d’une étude empirique sur les jeux de rôle en ligne. Bien que ces espaces médiatiques puissent apparaître, de prime abord, étrangers aux phénomènes de (dé)valorisation sociale, nous souhaitons insister sur les potentialités analytiques de cette philosophie sociale pour appréhender les dimensions symboliques et morales des interactions médiatisées des joueurs. Nous montrons notamment comment la pensée d’Axel Honneth nous a amenés à prêter attention aux manifestations d’estime et de mépris dans ce monde synthétique.
